Our Community Orchard

In the early days of 2024 we worked with a wonderful and generous team of local people who donated trees, tools and time to plant a beautiful new community orchard.  We have planted apple, pear, quince, cherry, damson and plum trees.

We are so excited to see it grow!

Blossom in the Spring

People working together

A home for wildlife

Free fruit for the community

We hope to add more trees in future.

If you could sponsor a bench so that people can enjoy the orchard please let us know:

Be a Nature Surveyor

Can you help us start a record of the wildlife that lives in Friary Park?

We are working on a system to collect data of wildlife sightings; birds, insects, amphibians, mammals etc.

In the meantime, please share your photos and sightings on our social media sites.  This will help us to understand what lives in the Park and how we can protect it.

Help Us Plant Native Hedging

We have plans to plant native hedging (holly, hawthorn, field maple, hornbeam, blackthorn, guelder rose, dog rose, hazel etc) around the perimeter of the park.

This would:

Support our wildlife

Screen air pollution from the busy roads

Reduce the urban heat effect

Look beautiful

Reduce flood risk

We will be seeking funding and volunteers.

Look out for more news to follow.
